Viaplay is adapting “Listen Up!” by Gulraiz Sharif as a major Norwegian feature film

• At Gulraiz Sharif acclaimed novel one of Norway most popular in 2021
• `Listen Up’ directed by the winner Kaveh Teherani (`The Manchador’) and BAFTA-nominated stars Asim Chaudhry (“People do nothing”)
• Viaplay expected to feature at least 70 originals in 2022

At Gulraiz Sharif acclaimed novel `Listen Up!’ will become a great Norwegian film of Viaplay, in partnership with Motlys and Arthaus. A lively and warm exploration of identity, class and family, ‘Listen Up!’ Brands At Kaveh Tehrani’s (the award-winning short film `The Manchador’) directorial debut feature film and is currently filming in Oslo. The film joins the World War II drama “Gold Run” on Viaplay Norwegian feature film, and will be shown on Viaplay following a cinema window in the fall of 2023.

In Oslo, Mahmoud, 15, is looking forward to summer vacation. All that’s missing is a job, money or something to do. So when his uncle comes to visit from Pakistan, Mahmoud takes it upon himself to show him all that the capital has to offer. At the same time, his younger brother Ali reveals a very personal secret to him, leaving Mahmoud facing the greatest test of his life to keep the family together.

The film features newcomers Mohammed Ahmed and Liza Haideralongside the award-winning British star Asim Chaudhry (“Wonder Woman 1984”; “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch”), recipient of a Royal Television Society Award and two BAFTA Television Award nominations for “People Just Do Nothing”.

The film is scripted by Erlend Loe (“Quick”) and Nora Landsrød (“Stockholm Bloodbath”), with Ingvil Berger and Yngve Sæther producing for Motlys and Kari MoenKristiansen as executive producer for Viaplay Group.

‘Listen!’ (Norwegian title: `Hør her’a!’) is produced in partnership with Norsk filminstitutt, Nordisk Film & TV Fond and Oslo Filmfond.
