Registration for the Northampton Film Festival 2022 is now open.

Becky Adams, producer at social enterprise film company Screen Northants, said: “The theme in 2019 was Coming of Age followed by Kind of a Big Deal for our 2020/2021 virtual festival, and now in 2022 we’re thinking that you should know your place…. It means knowing there’s a place for you in the film industry if you want it and knowing there’s a lot to celebrate in Northampton.

Northamptonshire filmmakers can now submit their short films for free in different categories:

– School competition with a prize of £2,000 filming equipment sponsored by Northampton Town Center BID

– Main Short Film competition for films made by Northamptonshire writers, producers or directors, or shot in the Northants, with drama and documentary sub-categories

The festival was last held in person in 2019.

– The Sketchy Link to Northants shorts category, which is new so the film festival can celebrate the work of those with a connection to the county even if the connection is a bit tenuous or outdated, like having studied here there a few years old.

Paul Mills, another Screen Northants producer, added: ‘Screen Northants have worked with so many talented young people in Northamptonshire over the past five years that we felt there should be a platform to show their work. and celebrate their talent.

“As we are the Northampton Film Festival, if you are a school in Northampton we offer free workshops to inspire and equip students to make their own film.

“We urge local schools to get in touch, if they haven’t already, and take advantage of these opportunities kindly supported by the Northamptonshire Community Foundation and… the council.”
