Lee Chamber Strings to Perform Film Soundtrack Concert on November 15

Lee University Chamber Strings will present their fall concert, “Motion Picture Soundtracks,” on Monday, November 15 at 7:30 pm The performance will take place at Pangle Hall and will also be broadcast live for virtual participation.

The evening will feature music from Disney, “Star Wars”, “James Bond”, “La La Land”, “Coco”, “Jurassic World” and other well known and loved films.

“The program is like a gift from heaven right before Thanksgiving, bringing you fond memories of movie soundtracks,” said Xiaoqing Yu, director of Chamber Strings. “It will certainly be an enjoyable evening for moviegoers.”

The Lee University Handbell Choir, led by Laud Vaught, will join the performance with “The Avengers”, “Amazing Grace” and “My Heart Will Go On”.

Chamber Strings is a dynamic ensemble comprising the institution’s best violinists, violists, cellists and bassists, offering innovative programming for on and off campus venues.

Mr. Yu joined Lee in 2004 and is currently an associate professor of music, teaching violin and chamber music. He has performed with world famous artists such as Emmanuel Ax, Itzhak Perlman, Isaac Stern and Maxim Vengerov. Previously, he was Principal Second Violin of the American Chamber Orchestra, performing throughout Europe.

Mr. Yu was Principal Violin of the Greenville Symphony Orchestra for 24 years and 23 seasons with the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra. After resigning from both orchestras in 2017, he joined The Lee Trio, a faculty piano trio that perform extensively in Asia during the summers.

The concert is free, without ticket office and open to the public.
