From short film to big-screen success, a look at Atlee’s journey to success

The Atlee name needs no introduction. Delivering blockbuster after blockbuster with actor Vijay, the young director has already garnered attention nationwide. From his directorial debut with a short film to Nayanthara in his first major project, followed by back-to-back successes, Atlee is now heading to Bollywood. But will his magic work on Hindi audiences? Atlee’s next Bollywood project, Jawan, starring none other than Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara, has created a real buzz in the B city.

Atlee made a short film Mugaputhagam with Sivakarthikeyan, Sathish and Priya, to examine his skills. He was talking about the impact of Facebook on young people in India. The short film received a good response from the audience, after which Atlee never looked back and continued to perform wonders on the big screen.

He made his big screen directorial debut with Raja Rani in 2013, starring Arya and Nayanthara. The film was filled with romance, comedy and emotions, so it turned out to be a big hit. Atlee immediately signed his second film with lead actor Vijay.

The collaboration between Atlee and Vijay has done wonders at the box office. They first delivered a hit crime drama Theri in 2014, which also touched on the importance of parenthood. Theri’s success and the critical appreciation he received led Vijay to collaborate with the young director again for the films Mersal and Bigil. Notably, Bigil became Thalapathy Vijay’s highest-grossing film to date.

Atlee’s 100% success rate has also earned him entry into Bollywood and in style. You ask why? He signed King Khan aka Shah Rukh Khan for his first Bollywood film. If the rumors are true, Atlee will present Shah Rukh in a fresh and adorable look. The Bollywood star is expected to play a dual role in the actor, titled Jawan.

The movie’s title announcement video was well received by audiences, who couldn’t keep calm seeing Shah Rukh in a brand new avatar.
