Batman: Year One Animated Feature Turns Ten With Commemorative Edition
The Batman: first year the story was published in 1987. It means she’s just older than me. It was written by legendary comic book writer Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli at DC Comics. Then in 2011, the story was adapted into an animated feature film. This means that 2021 is the tenth anniversary of the film’s release.
To celebrate the occasion, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is releasing a fully remastered version of Batman: first year. It will include the new bonus, Reinventing Gordon. With a variety of featurettes, audio commentary and an animated short. You can pick up your copy on November 9, 2021. It will be available for the 4K Ultra HD and Digital Blu-ray Combo Pack.
Here’s the synopsis for Batman: Year One
Originally released on Blu-ray and DVD in 2011, Batman: Year One is based on the historic 1987 DC Titles of 12-time Eisner Prize winner and Eisner Prize Hall of Fame member Frank Miller and illustrator David Mazzucchelli. The film depicts the return of young Bruce Wayne to Gotham City in his first attempts to fight injustice as a costumed superhero. Billionaire playboy chooses giant bat appearance to fight crime, makes early bond with young lieutenant James Gordon (who already fights corruption inside the police department), inadvertently plays a role in the birth of Catwoman and helps bring down a twisted political system that plagues Gotham City.

Six-time Emmy® Award winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Trumbo, Your Honor) and Gotham star Ben McKenzie (Southland, The OC) lead a star cast as Lt. James Gordon and Bruce Wayne / Batman, respectively. Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) voices Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Katee Sackhoff (The Mandalorian, Battlestar Galactica) voices Detective Sarah Essen, and the late Alex Rocco (The Godfather) is the voice of the Lord of the crime Carmin Falcone. Batman: Year One is a must-read comic book arc for all Batman fans. Heck just comic book fans in general. Having an animated film to accompany it makes it even better.
