Aju Ajeesh ready to direct his first feature film
After donning the director’s hat for a Malayalam short, Kaakka, young filmmaker Aju Ajeesh has now been roped in to direct his first feature film, titled Pantham. On August 17, actor Asif Ali unveiled the title poster of the upcoming film on his Facebook page. For the uninitiated, Pantham is produced by a WhatsApp group named Vellithira, now known as Vellithira Productions, which had also produced Kaakka.
The film has been in the limelight since the recent launch of its title poster. Pantham’s motion title and poster were unveiled at an event held at the Ernakulam Children’s Park Theater in Kochi by popular director and MACTA Chairman McCartin. Renowned directors like Santhosh Vishwanath and Boban Samuel, screenwriter Rajesh Verma, as well as music composer Ratheesh Vega, also graced the event with their presence.
Produced under the Vellithira Productions banner, Pantham was directed and edited by Aju Ajeesh. The script for the Malayalam film was written by Aju, along with Shinoj Eenikkal. Moreover, its music was composed by Abin Sagar. Meanwhile, details about its cast, plot, and release date have been kept under wraps by the creators.

Prior to Pantham, Vellithira Productions’ short film Kaakka won awards for being a popular art film. The critically acclaimed short starred Lakshmika Sajeeva in the lead role, alongside Satish Ambadi, Sreela Nalledam, Ganga Surendran and Vipin Neel in key roles. Kaakka’s plot highlights the importance of a person’s inner beauty. The film emphasizes that there is much more to a person than their physical appearance. Director Aju Ajeesh was released on the Neestream streaming platform last year on April 14. It is said to have amassed over 6 million views on the platform which is rare in the Malayalam film industry.
